Sponsored post Pt.2 – Flights to Alicante

This is a sponsored post, I don’t really have any policies on sponsored posts, if I did then I would link you to them, but in the mean time If you want to pay me to write something or provide a link then sure, I’ll do it provided it’s not for porn or mass puppy genocide or something like that. So there you go, I suppose that’s a policy. If you are against me writing for money, then YOU can pay me NOT to put these sponsored posts on MY website and it will remain an ad free area. Enjoy. If you’ve ever wanted to...

Inspiration Monday – Jackie Luo

My goodness! A whole week without posts, well I have a good reason for that. Two of them actually, the first is that I took EVERYTHING off my computer, completely wiped the thing and am in the process of gradually putting things back where they belong, so that’s been keeping me busy. the second is that I got a brand spankin’ new camera! A D7000 and I’m loving it, so I have been taking photos of anything and everything. Oh! also my mom came to visit and that kept me busy for a few days. All in all it’s been a busy week,...

Bargain! Pentax SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4

It’s Bargain time again! This time I have something for you Pentax people out there. I know I mostly focus on Nikon gear and touch on Canon stuff occasionally and pretty much ignore all other camera companies, but I’m trying to fix that! This one is something that I didn’t want to put up because I want it for myself so bad. Yep, even though you might have a Nikon camera you can buy adapters to be able to use most other companies lenses on your camera. I really wanted it for myself but I’m saving to upgrade my camera to the D7000, so I...

My Photo Of The Week – Ruby!

This week we have an adorable dog named Ruby! . . . The details: Camera – Nikon D60 Lens – AF-S Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4G Mode – Manual Focal Length – 50mm Shutter speed – 1/160th Aperture – f/1.4 ISO – 400 Format – RAW Lighting – Fluorescent tube   I love to shoot people’s pets. With a camera, not, not with like a weapon or anything like that. I love to PHOTOGRAPH people’s pets. I probably like it so much because I used to have so many and for a long time I’ve had none. I’ve had everything from dogs and cats to...

Inspiration Monday – Trey Ratcliffe

Toady’s Inspiration Monday is the phenomenal photographer and travel blogger Trey Ratcliff from Stuck In Customs. Before I get into Trey’s amazing photography I want to touch REALLY quickly on HDR photography. HDR stand for “High Dynamic Range” and while I’m not going to go into much depth right now, I will say that the process involves taking three or more images of different exposure levels (under exposed, properly exposed and over exposed) and merging them together. By doing this you are able to create an image that is closer to...

My Problem With Ted’s Cameras, And The Retail Market In General

My Problem With Ted’s Cameras, And The Retail Market In General

This was supposed to be a post about how to buy camera gear in Australia with a little anecdote about what happened last time I went into a camera store, but that anecdote turned into a HUGE rant (how does that keep happening?) so now it’s a post about how I hate stores. I will do that post about how to buy camera gear eventually, I promise! In the mean time, here’s this: For those of you how don’t live in Australia, Ted’s is one of the biggest camera store chains in the country. Their logo looks like a cartoon version of...

This isn’t a post.

Sorry folkaroonies, there isn’t going to be a post today. For those of you who don’t know, on the 24th of August Nikon is making some kind of worldwide announcement and this makes me so excited that I’m going to have to call up the dictionary people and tell them to paste my photo over the definition of “giddy”. I hope they use this photo: I might as well have them re-define “classy” while I’m at it. Intersting side note, going to www.time.gov and hitting refresh a bunch of times will not speed...

Inspiration Monday – Todd Owyoung

Inspiration Monday is back on track! When I first got started in Photography all my friends were in bands. I actually used to be in most of those bands but when you’re self employed and trying to get a business off the ground, you don’t have much time to jam with your friends. Still, even if I couldn’t be on stage I could at least be documenting the journey, so I started to look around for examples of gig photography and THAT is how I stumbled upon Todd Owyoung. Not only is Todd just a phenomenal photographer, but a lot of the time...

My Photo Of The Week – Melbourne City Skyline At Night

This week we have a panorama of the Melbourne city skyline at night! . . The details: Camera – Nikon D60 Lens – Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX (the kit lens) Mode – Manual Focal Length – 18mm Shutter speed – 1/13th Aperture – f/3.5 Format – RAW Lighting – Natural This one was shot at the top of the Langham and is actually made up of 4 separate shots of the skyline and stitched together in Photoshop. Normally when you shoot a panorama you should use a tripod, but this was a spur of the moment kind of shot, so I...
